I started blogging in 2016 as a way of sharing my poetry. Since then I’ve realized writers, like artists, are constantly developing and pursuing new interests. Currently I’m writing children’s fiction. I recently signed a contract with Elk Lake Publishing for the publication of my first book, Buddy the Beagle on Blueberry Street. I am represented by Michelle S. Luzarek of WordWise Media.
If you are an aspiring writer, I suggest you connect with a local writing group. As a member of Wordweavers International, I’ve honed my writing skills through critique group discussions. Writing conferences offer valuable insight and tips for writers of all genres. At conferences attendees have the opportunity to present their work to editors and agents and receive feedback. I highly recommend the Florida Christian Writers Conference where I have made invaluable contacts who furthered my progress as a writer.
My writing journey began during the summer of 2013. That’s when I retired from teaching and read The Creative Call by Janice Elsheimer. Her book inspired me to express myself through poetry. Since then several of my poems have appeared in Time of Singing, a journal of Christian poetry. In 2016 I launched into writing for children with a nonfiction article, Counting Manatees, Clubhouse Jr. Magazine .
I invite you to subscribe to my blog. You will be notified through email whenever I add new content. I often share my inspiration for writing. I love to hike, camp, and relax in nature. I’ve written many posts about camping in Florida State Parks with my husband, Herb, and our sweet beagle, Buddy. Join us as we explore the “real Florida.” When you visit leave a comment about your outdoor experiences. I’m always interested in visiting new places.
